THE NEED FOR MEDICAL SELF-GOVERNMENT IN UKRAINE

Abstract

The inefficient modern Ukrainian health care system needs to be updated. The new management component of this system should include institutions of professional self-government, including medical. The way to establish medical self-government in the Ukrainian realities is only through the adoption of relevant legislation. It should define a complete list of competencies of a professional self-governing organization with the obligatory approval by the organization of ethical norms of existence in the profession. A wide example of the names of such organizations in many countries around the world shows the national contexts of such names. Taking into account the historical longevity of the medical public movement in Ukraine, Ukrainian doctors is offered the name of such an organization — the Ukrainian Medical Association. More than 15 years of experience and the path of the Ukrainian Medical Association in building medical self-government in Ukraine, its more than 110 years of history, membership in all leading international medical institutions, recognition and support of leading medical organizations in other countries, fundamental and deep knowledge of medical self-government by specialists of the Ukrainian Medical Association on the basis of world best practices convincingly prove that the chosen way of establishing medical self-government in Ukraine through the bill developed by the UMA is civilized and correct. The association around the achievements of the Ukrainian Medical Association will bring the Ukrainian medical community to a qualitatively new level of professional activity, provide it with comprehensive development and recognition, social and economic protection.
